Yaang
A downloadable Yaang: The Game! for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Yaang
A 2D puzzle game implemented by me, Fr00g, Herocrife in Jamingtons 9.0 Game Jam. The jam lasted three days and had the theme MEMORY.
The Idea Behind Yaang
Yaang is supposed to be a straight to the point memory game. He is a boy trying to get out of a magical cavern. To do that, the player must remember the path the cavern shows them.
Implementation
I pretty much only stopped to eat, exercise and sleep. The rest of the time was coding and looking at youtube shader videos. It was pretty awesome tho. Really loved the game.
Future Ideas
Here are some ideas I had if I ever came back to this project:
1 - Add an endless random mode.
2 - Add many, many more levels, types of platforms and player abilities. For instance, a platform that changes position in the dark, or an ability that lets the player see the destination for some period of time.
3 - Port the game to mobile. (Edit: Version 1.1 was released for android!)
Feedback
This section is dedicated to feedback.
1 - The camera behaves a little strange at times.
Version 1.0 Is the version of the jam, but version 1.0.2 fixes the camera issues.
2 - The game should have a reboot system for the levels you are stuck on.
Version 1.1 implements this mechanic. Hold R for three seconds to reboot the level and see the path again if you get stuck!
3 - The Player Power should light up the path more clearly.
